How to Remove the Spindle on SS and SS-BB

This guide explains how to safely remove the spindle from:

• SS

• SS-BB (WiFi version)

The spindle mechanism is slightly different from other models.

If you try to pull it out without releasing the U-clip first, it will not come out.

Note

Important Before You Start

• The lock must NOT be installed on the door

• You must remove and work on the panel where the spindle sits

Why the Spindle Does Not Pull Out

The spindle is held in place by a U-clip.

When the U-clip is fully seated and tight, the spindle is locked in position.

If you try to pull the spindle out without loosening the U-clip:

• It will not move

• Forcing it may damage the mechanism

What You Will Need

A small flat tool (e.g. flat screwdriver) to gently move the U-clip

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1 – Remove the Panel

Ensure the lock is:

• Not installed on the door

• The panel containing the spindle is accessible

Place it on a stable surface.

Step 2 – Locate the U-Clip

Find the U-clip that holds the spindle in place.

It sits against the spindle and prevents it from sliding out.

Step 3 – Loosen the U-Clip

Using your finger or a small flat tool:

• Gently pull or shift the U-clip slightly to the side

• You only need to loosen it slightly

• Do not fully remove it unless necessary

• Do not bend it excessively

The goal is to release the grip on the spindle.

Step 4 – Remove the Spindle

While the U-clip is loosened:

• Gently pull the spindle out by hand

• It should slide out smoothly

If it does not move:

• The U-clip is still holding it

• Recheck that it has been loosened properly

Do not force the spindle out.
