Smart Locks Suitable for Outward-Opening Doors (Weather-Resistant Options)

If your door opens outwards and is exposed to the British weather, choosing the right smart lock is essential.
Not every smart lock is suitable for outward-opening doors — especially when both sides may be exposed to rain, wind and humidity. Below are the models that are compatible and designed to handle UK outdoor conditions.
Important: These locks are weatherproof, not fully waterproof. They are designed to withstand normal UK rain and outdoor conditions — but you should not spray water directly onto them.
SS Smart Lock (With Wi-Fi & Without Wi-Fi)
The Simpled SS Smart Lock is designed specifically for Lift & Lock and Multipoint door systems.
This makes it ideal for:
uPVC doors
Composite doors
Multipoint locking mechanisms
Outward-opening doors (when installed correctly)
The exterior panel is weather-resistant and suitable for UK outdoor exposure. The interior side must remain protected (for example inside a porch or sheltered area).
The SS model is available:
With built-in Wi-Fi
Without Wi-Fi (Bluetooth version)
Both versions provide fingerprint access, passcode entry, key card, app control and emergency key access.
If you have a multipoint lift-handle door, this is the correct category of lock.
DWF Smart Lock (Double-Side Weather Resistant)
The Simpled DWF Smart Lock is designed for Single Latch door mechanisms.
This makes it suitable for:
Single latch doors
Certain wooden doors
Outward-opening gates or external doors
Situations where both sides may face outdoor exposure
The DWF has weather-resistant protection on both sides, making it a stronger option where exposure is higher.
Again, this does not mean waterproof — it simply means built to handle UK climate conditions.
If your door does not use a multipoint mechanism and instead has a single latch, this is the model category to look at.
Not Sure Which One You Need?
Choosing the wrong model for your door mechanism can cause fitting issues.
If you have a Lift & Lock / Multipoint door → SS model
If you have a Single Latch door → DWF model
