If your UF lock is making three beeps and the inside thumb turn feels stiff, this is not a fault with the electronics.

These symptoms indicate that the deadbolt movement is obstructed. The lock is detecting resistance and warning you.

This must be resolved to prevent damage to the lock.

What the Three Beeps Mean

• The lock is trying to move the deadbolt

• It detects resistance or blockage

• It stops operation and gives three warning beeps

Confirm the Issue

Check the inside thumb turn:

• If it feels tight, stiff, or difficult to turn → confirms obstruction

• If it turns smoothly → issue may be elsewhere

Common Cause

The most common reason is a slight misalignment of the lock on the door.

Over time:

• The door may shift slightly

• The lock position may move

• Even a small change can cause the deadbolt to catch or rub

How to Fix

Step 1: Check Lock Alignment

• Inspect how the lock sits on the door

• Look for signs of misalignment between:

  • Lock body

  • Door frame

  • Strike plate

Step 2: Test Movement

• Open the door

• Try operating the lock

Result:

• If it works smoothly when the door is open → alignment issue confirmed

Step 3: Adjust Position

• Reposition the lock slightly if needed

• Ensure the deadbolt lines up cleanly with the strike plate

• Tighten all fixings securely

Important Notes

• Even small alignment changes can cause this issue
