Extender cables are used during smart lock installation when extra length is needed to connect parts of the lock inside the door.

They can be helpful, but incorrect installation can affect how secure and stable your lock is.

This guide shows you how to use them safely and avoid the most common issues.

Most Important Rule (Read First)

When using extender cables:

●The lock must ALWAYS sit flat and flush against the door

If the lock is pushed outward by the cables:

The lock casing can become misaligned or distorted

The fixing screws may tighten unevenly

This can reduce the overall security of the installation

Correct = flat against door

Wrong = pushed away from door

Common Mistake to Avoid

The most common issue happens when:

●Too much cable is packed behind the lock

●The cable sits between the lock and the door

●The lock is forced outward when tightening screws

If this happens, stop and reposition the cable before continuing.

Types of Extender Cables

There are two types of extender cables:

3-pin cable

4-pin cable

All extender cables are approximately 10 cm long

They are designed for short extension only, not long-distance routing

This is because SS models already include a longer built-in connection cable.
