Overview
Simpled gateways enable remote control, monitoring, and management of smart locks through the TTLock app and cloud. While all gateways provide core remote features, they differ inconnectivity, power supply, network stability, and smart home integration.
This article explains the differences to help customers and staff choose the correct gateway for each installation.
Gateway models explained
TG Gateway (G2) – Wi-Fi Gateway
The G2 is a wireless gateway designed for simple residential setups.
Connects to the router via Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz)
Powered by Type-C USB (DC 5V / 500mA) from a wall outlet
Compact (approx. 70 × 70 × 26 mm, ABS material)
Supports core TTLock features such as:
Remote unlocking
E-key sharing
Lock status monitoring
Uses IEEE 802.11 b/g/n standards
Best for: Homes with stable Wi-Fi where flexible placement is needed.
Limitations: Performance depends on Wi-Fi stability and requires constant outlet power.
Wired Gateway (G3) – Ethernet Gateway
The G3 uses a wired Ethernet connection for improved reliability.
Connects to the router via RJ45 Ethernet (10M, IEEE 802.3)
Powered by Type-C USB (DC 5V / 500mA)
Same size and material as G2 (70 × 70 × 26 mm, ABS)
Provides the same TTLock app features as G2
No Wi-Fi support
Best for: Locations with unreliable Wi-Fi or where stable connectivity is critical.
Matter Gateway (G6) – Smart Home Integration Gateway
The G6 adds Matter protocol support for advanced smart home environments.
Wi-Fi connectivity: 4 GHz and 5 GHz
Powered by Type-C USB (DC 5V / 500mA)
Slightly larger housing (75 × 75 × 24 mm)
Supports Matter, enabling integration with:
Apple HomeKit
Google Home
Amazon Alexa
Samsung SmartThings
Enables advanced automation, multi-platform control, and time calibration
Best for: Mixed smart home ecosystems requiring cross-platform compatibility.
Key difference: Other gateways are limited to the TTLock ecosystem and basic voice assistant support.
PoE Gateway (G3P) – Power over Ethernet Gateway
The G3P is a professional-grade gateway using PoE for both power and data.
Connects via RJ45 Ethernet (10/100M)
Powered through PoE, eliminating the need for a wall outlet.
Includes Type-C USB backup power (DC 5V / 500mA)
Same size as G3 (70 × 70 × 26 mm, ABS)
Ideal for structured cabling environments
Best for: Commercial or professional installations where centralized power and maximum stability are required.
Power flexibility: Can be powered by either PoE link or a standard USB power supply type C wire.
Shared features across all gateways
AES 128-bit encryption for secure communication
Indicator lights for status and connectivity
Maximum operating distance of approximately 5 metres from the lock
Cloud integration for:
Access records
Remote sharing
Lock management
Cables and power adapters are not included
Why this matters
Choosing the correct gateway ensures reliable remote access, optimal performance, and compatibility with the customer’s network and smart home setup. Wireless gateways offer flexibility, wired and PoE gateways provide stability, and the Matter gateway enables full ecosystem integration.
Quick summary
G2: Wi-Fi gateway for simple home use
G3: Wired Ethernet gateway for stable connectivity
G6: Matter-enabled gateway for multi-platform smart homes
G3P: PoE gateway for professional and commercial installations
All gateways deliver the same core TTLock functionality—the right choice depends on network type, power availability, and smart home requirements.
